You may already be aware that Pinterest and Instagram are a bride’s best friend when it comes to finding wedding inspiration. However, the sheer amount of content out there can quickly overwhelm if you (1) don’t know what you’re looking for and (2) are using social media without a clear strategy.
Most of us could spend hours scrolling through our feed, saving and pinning a ridiculous volume of posts we may or may not reference ever again.
Our goal with this guide is to help you harness the potential of top social media platforms without wasting valuable time and energy.
Dating back to 2008, Pinterest is arguably more of a search tool than a social media platform. People don’t use Pinterest to connect with friends. More often than not, they are specifically looking for inspiration - or Pinspiration - for weddings, recipes, fitness, interior design…things like that. It’s kind of like Google in that vein.
However, unlike Google, Pinterest serves up pictures as the search results.
So, when couples plug keywords like “rustic wedding” or “vintage wedding decorations” into the Pinterest search bar, suddenly they see all these pretty pictures (a.k.a. pins) of themed ceremony backdrops and table décor.
Like what you see? Hit the “Save” button, and the pin will save to your desired board, which you can title “Wedding Inspiration” or “Our Dream Wedding” or something along those lines.
Pro Tip: To keep things really organized for all your vendors, you’ll want to create separate boards for different categories (e.g., florals, cake, dress, wedding favors, decorations, you get the picture).
Here are a few examples of pins from our own “Spruce Mountain Ranch Weddings” board:
Be sure to follow Spruce Mountain Events on Pinterest for more Colorado wedding inspiration!
Now, there is one caveat with this platform.
It is really easy to get lost on Pinterest. After weeks of scrolling through the never-ending sea of beauty and creativity, you may come away with thousands of saved pins—some of which don’t really even fit your vision anymore.
Please, please, please…do not overwhelm your vendors with an unedited master board.
After you think you’ve saved a sufficient number of pins, go back to your board(s) and remove pins that are repetitive or don’t quite hit the mark. A master board narrowed down to no more than 20-30 photos will communicate your goals much more clearly than a board with a gazillion unorganized pins.
Fun Fact: You can also add your own pins from Instagram, TikTok, or other external locations (like venue websites or a photographer’s portfolio page). That way, you aren’t limited only to what’s populating your Pinterest feed.
Most brides and grooms probably already spend a little time each day scrolling through their Instagram feeds. But once you’re engaged, this casual relaxation habit often takes on a new purpose: scoping out wedding ideas and potential vendors.
Instagram is the medium of choice for many wedding photographers, florists, and wedding planners, often serving as a digital portfolio of sorts.
This is the kind of thing you might see on our Instagram account:
To make the most of your Insta scrolling, you can:
Follow bridal magazines, authorities, and industry influencers.
Follow strategic hashtags like (e.g. #coloradoweddings or #mountainweddings).
Connect directly with potential local vendors.
Explore how other couples are using your chosen venue.
Save posts that fit your vision to distinct Instagram collections.
If you’re using both Pinterest and Instagram to find wedding inspiration, we recommend consolidating your saved content by adding your favorite Instagram ideas as pins on your Pinterest board(s).

Facebook isn’t exactly known for its inspirational appeal. However, it does offer some tools that may prove extremely valuable as you coordinate the details of your wedding.
First of all, almost every wedding venue or vendor has some sort of presence on Facebook. If you’re using social media to build your vendor list or scope out venue possibilities, you can use Facebook to see what potential wedding vendors and venues have done in the past.
Take these posts on our Spruce Mountain Events Facebook page, for example.
Beyond connecting with venues and vendors, Facebook groups can put you in touch with other brides (past and future) who may have some creative ideas or recommendations to give your imagination a boost. There are several kinds of groups to join:
Bridal Communities (support, advice, and vendor suggestions from real couples)
Local Wedding Groups (location-specific vendor recommendations)
Buy/Sell/Trade Groups (potential deals on pre-owned décor or dresses)
Whether you’re seeking out the latest and greatest wedding trends or on the hunt for some creative DIY “wedding hacks,” TikTok will give you quick bursts of ideas for everything from décor to your first dance to your grand exit.
And that’s not to mention the endless supply of trending TikTok sounds and challenges you could incorporate into your wedding festivities.
Like the other platforms, you can save and organize TikToks into distinct collections and follow popular hashtags (broad ones like #weddinginspiration or #bridetobe AND specific ones like #rusticwedding or #weddingonabudget).
We can’t forget YouTube! While you wouldn’t necessarily go to YouTube for inspiration in the beginning stages of your planning process, you might use the platform to look a little deeper into a specific idea or trend you want to explore.
YouTube offers a never-ending treasure trove of DIY tutorials, for everything from calligraphy for your invitations to creating an artsy book page flower bouquet.
