Spruce Mountain Ranch has been welcoming couples for just over 25 years. We’re humbled to witness how our family-owned ranch has blossomed into one of central Colorado's most sought-after wedding destinations. That being said, our growing popularity makes it more of a challenge for couples to secure a spot at our venue during certain seasons.

Interested in a wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch? Fabulous—we’re thrilled to help you plan the wedding of your dreams!

This comprehensive guide reveals everything you need to know about our wedding seasons and provides insider tips for securing your perfect date.

Peak Wedding Season at Spruce Mountain Ranch

We may be slightly biased, but Colorado is genuinely stunning year-round. However, Spruce Mountain Ranch’s peak wedding season typically lasts from May to November. Within that time frame, June through September are the most popular months.

Here’s why Spruce Mountain couples love this late spring-to-fall range.

May (Spring)

Garden-themed weddings have surged in popularity, catapulting May into one of our most requested months. Characterized by mild temperatures, delicate greenery, and magnificent floral blooms, springtime is naturally a time of romance and new growth—two themes that are perfect for a celebration of marriage. When spring hits, the ranch is painted in vibrant greens in every direction, creating a sweet backdrop for your big day.

June/July/August (Summer)

As we get into summer, the ranch transforms into an image pulled straight from a storybook. Golden sunshine bathes our rolling meadows, lush grassy fields stretch toward distant peaks, and warm, star-filled nights create unforgettable evening celebrations. During these captivating summer months, photo opportunities become limitless, mountain vistas reach their most dramatic, and evening cocktails in our courtyard feel especially refreshing against the warm mountain air.

September/October/November (Fall)

Equally as popular as summer, autumn brings about a unique, whimsical ambiance. Between fall’s gorgeous color palette, the soft golden glow that blankets our sprawling fields, and the crisp, refreshing mountain air, autumn on the ranch is naturally warm and inviting. Our magnificent stone fireplaces, intricate wooden architectural details, and stunning indoor venues complete the experience, offering a cozy, luxurious mountain retreat vibe.

Our Less Requested (But Equally Stunning) Months

While not as frequently booked, Spruce Mountain's off-season months offer their own breathtaking charm and significant advantages.

March/April (Early Spring)

This transitional season fills our property with signs of renewal and awakening. The landscape brims with hope as nature emerges from winter's slumber, giving guests a taste of Colorado's most delicate seasonal offerings. While evenings can remain chilly during early spring, daytime temperatures in Larkspur typically provide comfortable, mild conditions perfect for celebrations. Our magnificent indoor venues become natural focal points, impressing guests with soaring timber-framed ceilings, hand-crafted stone features, and versatile spaces that accommodate gatherings of every size.

December/January/February (Winter)

There’s nothing like a Spruce Mountain winter wedding. Towering evergreens, beautiful snow-covered mountains and valleys, crackling fireplaces, and twinkling lights everywhere—it’s pure magic! Brave the crisp winter air for truly spectacular photo opportunities against pristine snowy backdrops, then retreat indoors for an intimate candlelit ceremony and reception warmed by roaring fires and joyful celebration.

Strategic Advantages of Off-Season Weddings

Beyond the unique aesthetic qualities described above, choosing an off-season wedding at Spruce Mountain offers several practical benefits:

  • More affordable venue pricing
  • Increased vendor availability (often at reduced rates)
  • Greater date flexibility and options
  • Improved guest attendance (fewer competing events)
  • A unique, memorable experience for your guests
  • More relaxed planning timeline

Booking Timeline: When to Secure Your Date

Reserving your Spruce Mountain wedding is straightforward—but timing is absolutely critical.

High Demand Periods: Tips for Securing a Date

Have your heart set on a Spruce Mountain wedding between May and November? Act quickly. Finding an available Saturday during these months is nearly impossible beyond 15 months in advance.

Follow these insider strategies to maximize your chances of getting a reservation during peak wedding season:

  • Request your venue tour ASAP.
  • Reach out to discuss availability at least 18 months prior to your ideal wedding month.
  • Prepare multiple date options or focus on a specific season rather than a single date.
  • Be open to the possibility of a weekday wedding.
  • Know your budget parameters and estimated guest count before making inquiries.
  • Confirm availability with must-have guests before committing to dates.
  • Research availability of key vendors (photographers, musicians, or other specialists beyond our required vendor list).

Flexibility is Key

Not committed to a specific peak-season date? Consider the December to April timeframe. Determined to celebrate during peak season? Explore the increasingly popular trend of weekday weddings. Flexibility not only simplifies the booking process but typically results in significant cost savings and smoother coordination with your preferred vendor team.

Where Does the Venue Tour Fit Into the Picture?

Before finalizing your booking, we strongly encourage experiencing the property firsthand. Seeing Spruce Mountain in person helps ensure it perfectly aligns with your vision and specific requirements.

Unable to visit Larkspur immediately? Good news! We offer BOTH in-person and virtual tours, allowing couples to “walk through” the property from just about anywhere.
