More Color Please

Light, bright, and airy colors have been on the wedding scene for awhile now, but this year, we will see brides and planners shift towards dramatic florals. Every year Pantone announces the color of the year. This year is Ultra Violet, and you can count on most 2018 weddings to include that color in some way.

Good news for you greenery-obsessed brides: greenery is here to stay. Tablescapes are also going to blossom with more color this year, as brides begin to change out those clear glass goblets to something a little more vibrant.

All About Navy

This year, couples going for a more elegant formal wedding will opt out of the traditional black and instead, go for the more versatile navy color. We will see couples incorporate navy into their invitations, plates, and even linens. Of course, we are all excited to see how the groomsmen will incorporate the navy color into their suits. Instead of the typical black tux, men will opt for a gorgeous and bold navy suit with brown shoes. If you are planning an autumn 2018 wedding, navy bridesmaid dresses would also be absolutely stunning.

Move Over Rustic, Here Comes Woodsy

Rustic trends will go to the wayside this year as couples look for a more “woodsy” look. Couples will incorporate wood elements into their weddings in a variety of different ways. We will see beautiful wood table numbers, wood elements in invitations, and even rustic-chic wood serving platters. We suggest achieving a woodsy look by having your ceremony at our Trey’s Vista. Interactive Food Stations

Couples are passing on the traditional plated meals (as glamorous as they may be) for a more entertaining and interactive option like taco bars. Interactive food stations are a great way to encourage your guests to mingle and offer a great way for your families to get to know one another, as well. When people are up and out of their seat, they will also have the opportunity to chat with people not sitting at their table.

Dessert Tables

Over the past few years we have seen traditional wedding cakes take a backseat to beautiful dessert tables. This year will be no different. We will continue to see more and more dessert tables with less wedding cakes. Instead, couples will prefer donut walls, macaron displays, and plated cookies. This is the perfect crowd pleaser: your guests no longer have only one dessert option. They can choose from a variety of options. Beer Bars

If your soon-to-be husband is a beer drinker, he is going to love this trend! Beer bars will be all the rage this year. Colorado is known for its many breweries, so this would be a perfect way to add a little dose of Colorado craft beer into your wedding. Ask your favorite breweries if they can set up a tap and have a dedicated bar that just serves beer. A beer bar is another way to offer your guests a memorable experience. Couples are looking to scale down the size of their weddings. Instead of inviting hordes of people, couples are inviting smaller groups of their closest friends and family, which means they can spend more quality time with their guests. It also increases their budget for food, entertainment, and decor. Smaller guest lists take a ton of pressure off the bride and groom. Rather than spending the entire night saying hello to everyone that attended the wedding, the bride and groom, as well as their guests, can spend more time on the dance floor.

Small Wedding Parties

Over the past few years, we have seen some extremely large wedding parties, but this year, just as the guest lists are sizing down, experts are also predicting that we will see much smaller wedding parties. One great way to keep your wedding party small on the day of your wedding but still have fun with all of your friends, is to invite them to showers and other pre-wedding parties. They will love to feel included in your wedding, but you can explain to them that you wanted to keep your bridal party a bit smaller.

Entertainment

Since couples are scaling back the size of their wedding, they now have more money to upgrade their entertainment choices. Don’t be afraid to get creative here. This year we will see couples incorporate unique additions to their weddings, such as caricature artists and non-traditional live bands like mariachi and jazz bands. The sky is the limit with this trend. Live entertainment is also another way to incorporate your own personal taste into the wedding. If you love art, why not have an artist come to your reception and do a live painting? Don’t be afraid to dream up something fun.

Bye Bye Traditional Photo Booths

Traditional photo booths are taking a back seat this year as couples move towards beautiful backdrops that can be multi-purposed. If you have a lounge area set up for your guests during cocktail hour, think of a way to repurpose the couch into a photo area. Moss walls also make for a great photo backdrop. These moss backdrops can be personalized with a quote, your initials, or even your wedding hashtag.

Hanging Florals

Florals are getting an update this year: instead of sitting on the table, we will see florals hung from above. How gorgeous are these hanging florals hanging from the pergola outside of Spruce Mountain’s Colorado Room. We think a perfect place to incorporate this trend would be at our Mountain Side location or Trey’s Vista. Why not hang a beautiful floral arrangement inside of the gazebo? You can also ask your florist to repurpose this hanging display somewhere during your reception.

Copper Details

Prepare to see tablescapes decked out with copper rather than rose gold accents we have seen over the past few years. Good news for brides is that copper is inexpensive, yet it adds an elegant detail. In 2018, we will see copper used not only in tablescapes, but also in overall wedding theme colors. How stunning is this copper and gold pairing in our Ponderosa Room?

Casual Vibes

For the couple that opted for a beer bar, here’s another trend that will be right up your alley: lawn games. Lawn games will be sure to get your guests out of their seats. For the guests who won’t get on the dance floor, why not challenge them to a game of cornhole?

Geometrics

If you are looking to add more of a modern feel to your wedding, then this trend is for you. Geometric shapes will be taking over many tablescapes in 2018. One simple way you can incorporate them into your wedding is by finding geometric candle holders.  The candle holders pictured above actually jibe with two trends - geometric and copper. Another way couples are incorporating the geometric trend into their wedding is by adding it to their cake. Instead of just a three-tiered cake, couples will be adding a geo as one of the tiers.

Cascading Bouquets

Whether your style is bohemian or ultra chic, you will want to incorporate this trend into your wedding. A beautiful bouquet of colorful florals cascading as you walk down the aisle will be a stunning way brides make their entrance in 2018. If bold colors aren’t to your liking you can still use a large bouquet of greenery and minimal flowers. Ask your florist to make a large cascading bouquet for you and smaller matching bouquets for your bridal party.

Balloons

No longer are balloons only appropriate for children parties, since they will be entering the wedding scene as well this year. Couples can have their florist create beautiful balloon arches and designs.  This is a great trend for couples on a budget. Balloons are an inexpensive way to spice up your wedding decor. Plus, you don’t have to feel so sad when they are thrown away at the end of the night, like you would with spending loads on floral arches.

Say Bye to the Traditional Wedding Favors

Traditional wedding favors will start going away this year as couples opt to create more of an experience for the guests. Couples will trade the favors for lipstick bars, after parties, and welcome gifts for out-of-town guests. This trend is all about enhancing your guest experience while they are at your wedding. Instead of paying for a gift for everyone at your wedding, you can book the DJ to play for another hour. After all, weddings go by so quickly, so paying for that extra hour will be money well spent.
